The Swedish Government gives subsidies for projects that makes the cities of Sweden more sustainable. Stockholm has just recieved 55 million crowns in order to make Husby, a suburb of Stockholm, more sustainable.
The aim of the project is to make the postwar multi-family buildings in Husby more energy efficient. Schools and sport venues will have solar panels and solar cells. Heating pumps will produce heat for the apartments.
Also the transports will become more environmentally friendly. The bike paths will be improved and there will be courses and imformation in order to increase the biking of the area. A car pool will be started.
Eco Tours Stockholm cooperate with the managers of this project and will probably be able to offer tours in the area during the summer and autumn of 2010.
